Who Aluminio TIMESA is

Aluminio TIMESA was founded in 1996 in the Gustavo A. Madero borough of Mexico City. It makes aluminum cookware: steamer pots, straight and convex pots, rice pots, casseroles, paella pans, saucepans, griddles, baking molds and frying pans, in standard gauge and in its 3 mm heavy-gauge line ("triple fuerte"). The largest steamers in its catalog measure 50 cm across and 61 cm tall, with a 120-liter capacity. In 2017 it launched ODISEA, its painted and nonstick line.

It sells in Mexico and also in the United States and South America.

The challenge: a reliable local supplier

For a pot maker, the circle is the raw material for everything else: if it does not arrive on time, the deep drawing line stops and its customers' orders run late. What TIMESA was looking for, and could not find, was a reliable local supplier: with inconsistent service there is no way to schedule production, and with variable quality every lot is a surprise at the press.

Why it chose Almexa

  • Quality: circles that behave the same on the press, lot after lot.
  • Response times and a service guarantee.
  • Origin: aluminum cast and rolled in Mexico, at the Cuautitlán Izcalli plant, in the same metropolitan area as its factory.

What Almexa does for TIMESA

Almexa supplies it with 1100 aluminum circles in O temper, the most ductile condition and the one that stretches best when deep drawing a pot or a tall steamer. They range from 160 to 1,100 mm (6.3 to 43.3 in) in diameter, from the standard line up to the 3 mm (0.118 in) of its heavy-gauge line, at 40 to 50 metric tons a month.

Deliveries arrive on time and as agreed. With that, TIMESA schedules production with real dates and serves its own customers on time.

What changed, according to TIMESA

  • Service: inconsistent before; with Almexa, scheduled with real dates.
  • Quality: variable before; consistent with Almexa.

What a pot maker needs from a circle

  • Ductility for deep drawing: that is why 1100 in O temper for pots and tall steamers.
  • Even thickness across the circle, so the wall and the bottom come out uniform.
  • A diameter sized to each part: a circle too large is scrap and one too small does not fill the die.
  • Scheduled deliveries: without circles, the deep drawing line stops.
