Founded in 1944 in Mexico City, Almexa Aluminio was established with a clear vision: to develop and transform aluminum into a strategic material for the country’s industrial growth. With more than 81 years of experience, Almexa Aluminio is a strong and established company with deep technical expertise and a clear commitment to continuous improvement. Its history is defined by consistency, evolution, and a dedication to developing solutions that create value for its customers and for the Mexican industry.

1944

ALMEXA is founded through the merger of the Mexican subsidiaries of ALCAN and REYNOLDS. Operations begin with aluminum foil production.

Strengthening of operations and positioning as a reliable supplier to multiple industries in Mexico.

1950s–1960s | Industrial Consolidation

1970s–1980s | Capacity Expansion

Expansion of the product portfolio, incorporation of technological improvements, and enhancement of operational processes.

1979

IMASA is founded, becoming a benchmark in the aluminum industry in Mexico and Central America.

Infrastructure upgrades and alignment of processes with international aluminum industry standards.

1990s–2000s | Modernization and Quality

2000

Integration of high-technology industrial and construction solutions.

Grupo Vasconia enters the aluminum sector through the acquisition of IMASA.

2007

2010s | Efficiency and Service

Focus on operational efficiency, continuous improvement, and strengthening customer service.

ALMEXA–IMASA merger, consolidating the company as one of the largest rolling mills in Latin America.

2012

2015

Expansion into specialized foil for the pharmaceutical, food and beverage sectors, as well as finstock.

Growth in finstock production and diversification into export markets, primarily serving the construction, HVAC, and automotive industries.

2020

2025

Strategic focus on higher value-added products: thicker-gauge coils and discs, new alloys, and more profitable applications.
